​GATE 2025 Examination Details
The GATE 2025 exam will be a 3-hour Computer Based Test (CBT) in English, covering 30 test papers. It will include General Aptitude (GA) and subject-specific questions, with formats like MCQs, MSQs, and NATs, assessing recall, comprehension, application, and analysis skills.
Each paper will consist of 65 questions—10 from General Aptitude and 55 from the subject. The distribution of marks is as follows:
- For most papers: General Aptitude: 15 marks, Engineering Mathematics: 13 marks, and Subject Questions: 72 marks, totaling 100 marks.
- For specific papers (AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL): General Aptitude: 15 marks and Subject Questions: 85 marks, totaling 100 marks.
Questions are worth either 1 mark or 2 marks. Incorrect answers to 1-mark MCQs will result in a deduction of 1/3 mark, while 2-mark MCQs will have a deduction of 2/3 mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers in MSQ and NAT questions, and no partial marking is given.
