The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has released the syllabus and examination scheme for the post of Sports Officer, part of the recruitment process outlined in Advertisement No. IITM/R/1/2024, dated 10th February 2024. The selection process consists of three stages: a Computer-Based MCQ Test, a Sports Event & Communication Skills Test, and a Personal Interview.
Examination Scheme (Exam: 01-10-2024)
The recruitment process for the Sports Officer position involves three levels:

IIT Madras Sports Officer Syllabus Overview
The Level 1 Computer-Based MCQ Test is divided into two sections:
Section A (30 Marks) covers:
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- Logical Reasoning
- English Language (Comprehension and Communication Skills)
- Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013
Section B (70 Marks) focuses on:
- Foundation and Methods in Physical Education
- Research Methods in Physical Education
- Sports Statistics and Use of Computers in Physical Education
- Scientific Principles of Sports Training
- Test, Measurement, and Evaluation in Physical Education
- Sports Psychology and Exercise Physiology
- Kinesiology and Sports Biomechanics

Level 2: Sports Events & Communication Skills
The Sports Event Test evaluates the candidate’s expertise in one specialized sports event, with marks assigned based on their representation in sports events:
- 10 Marks if represented the Nation
- 5 Marks if represented the State
- 3 Marks if represented the University at the National Level
In the Communication Skills Test, candidates will be assessed on:
- English Language: Comprehension and report/letter writing
- Computer Proficiency: MS Office and email proficiency
Level 3: Personal Interview
The Personal Interview will further assess the candidate’s overall suitability for the role, focusing on their knowledge, communication skills, and relevant experience.
Important Notes:
- A minimum of 5X candidates will be shortlisted for Level 2 based on their performance in the MCQ Test.
- The questions will generally be based on the graduation level.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the MCQ Test.
