This Project Associate position is a temporary role, initially offered for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project requirements. Successful candidates will be working under Prof. S. Mahalingam from the Department of Biotechnology at IIT Madras, focusing on the analysis of large genomic datasets.

IIT Madras Project Associate Job Responsibilities

Selected candidates will be responsible for:

• Analyzing large NGS datasets (Whole Genome Sequencing, Exome Sequencing, RNA-seq).
• Secondary analysis, variant calling, and conducting literature reviews.
• Using standard bioinformatics tools and scripting/programming to process large datasets.
• Operating primarily on the Linux platform and working with Illumina’s sequencing platforms.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the position of Project Associate, candidates must meet the following requirements:

M.Sc. / M.Tech in Bioinformatics or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics	3-5 years of experience in NGS data analysis	₹40,000 to ₹60,000 per month

Candidates must have prior experience in analyzing NGS data, including Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), Whole Exome Sequencing (WES), and RNA-seq data. Additionally, proficiency in bioinformatics tools, scripting, and Linux systems is required.
