BC Supervisors will be responsible for monitoring and supporting BC agents in rural and urban areas, ensuring that banking services are accessible to all customers in the assigned region.

Eligibility Criteria for BC Supervisors

The recruitment process is divided into two categories of candidates: Retired Bank Employees and Young Candidates.

1. For Retired Bank Employees:

  • Retired officers (including voluntarily retired) from any bank (PSU, RRB, Private, or Co-operative Banks) up to the rank of Senior Manager or equivalent.
  • Retired clerks and equivalent staff from the Central Bank of India with JAIIB certification.
  • Applicants must have at least 3 years of rural banking experience.
  • Maximum entry age: 64 years.
  • Maximum age for continuation: 65 years.

2. For Young Candidates:

  • Minimum qualification: Graduate with computer knowledge (MS Office, Email, Internet).
  • Preferred qualifications: M.Sc. (IT), BE (IT), MCA, or MBA.
  • Age range: 21 to 45 years at the time of appointment.
  • Maximum age for continuation: 60 years.

Additionally, all candidates must be residents of the district where they will be assigned and should be proficient in the local language and dialect. Applicants must also be able to travel to villages regularly for supervision and other activities.

Geographical Considerations

BC Supervisors must reside near their assigned nodal branch and must not live outside the district for which they are selected. Candidates must also be willing to visit rural areas to ensure banking services reach all communities.

BC Supervisors Selection Process

The selection process involves a personal interview conducted by the bank’s regional office. In addition, due diligence, including KYC and CIBIL reports, will be conducted. Candidates with adverse records or those dismissed from previous service will not be considered. Police verification is mandatory for all selected candidates before their appointment.

Contract Duration and Remuneration

The initial contract period will be 12 months, subject to an annual performance review. The remuneration structure is a mix of fixed and variable components as outlined below:

In addition, BC Supervisors are entitled to 30 days of paid leave annually, accrued at 2.5 days per month. Supervisors exceeding the leave limit or availing extra leave will not be paid for the additional days.

BC Supervisors Roles and Responsibilities

The BC Supervisors will play a key role in ensuring that the BC agents assigned to them are functioning effectively. Some of their primary responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring BC agents on a daily basis via BC Dashboard, phone calls, or online meetings.
  • Ensuring that banking services are available in all identified Sub Service Areas (SSAs), both rural and urban.
  • Conducting village meetings to promote banking services and financial inclusion.
  • Ensuring the availability and operation of BC agents during prescribed hours.
  • Educating BC agents on their roles and responsibilities.
  • Monitoring target achievement and ensuring BC agents are engaged in cross-selling bank products.
  • Conducting financial literacy sessions in villages to enhance banking awareness.
  • Submitting feedback reports to the regional office on the performance of BC agents and any issues encountered during field visits.

Performance Review

The performance of BC Supervisors will be reviewed monthly by the Branch Manager and Chief Manager in charge of financial inclusion. An annual review will be conducted by the Regional Head, with recommendations for renewal or termination of the contract based on performance. The Scoring Matrix in Annexure-2 will be used for evaluating the performance of BC Supervisors, and failure to meet targets may result in contract termination.

Termination of Contract

Both the bank and the BC Supervisor can terminate the contract with 30 days’ notice. However, in cases of misconduct, fraud, or non-satisfactory performance, the bank reserves the right to terminate the contract immediately without notice.
