IIT Madras Security Guard Recruitment 2024: Syllabus & Examination Scheme

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has announced the syllabus and examination scheme for the post of Security Guard, under Advertisement No. IITM/R/1/2024, dated 10th February 2024. The selection process consists of two levels: a Computer-Based MCQ Test and a Physical Test.

Examination Scheme (Exam: 01-10-2024)

The recruitment for the Security Guard position involves two levels:

IIT Madras Security Guard Syllabus Overview

The Level 1 Computer-Based MCQ Test is divided into two sections:

Section A (60 Marks) covers:

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  • Basic Arithmetic and Numerical Ability
  • Logical Reasoning
  • General English language and grammar
  • Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013

Section B (40 Marks) focuses on security management topics:

  • Security Management at Entry and Exit Gates
  • Material Gate Pass Systems
  • Handling emergencies (theft, fire, road accidents)
  • Basic Fire Fighting and First Aid
  • Event Management on special occasions
  • Protocol and security during VVIP visits
  • Security patrolling and static posts
  • Surveillance systems and perimeter protection

Level 2: Physical Test

The Physical Test will assess candidates on:

  • Running (short distance and long distance)
  • Long Jump
  • Sit-ups/Push-ups
  • Lift & Run

Important Notes:

  • A minimum of 5X candidates will be shortlisted for the Physical Test based on their performance in the MCQ Test.
  • The questions will generally be at the SSLC qualification level.
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the MCQ test.
