IIT Madras Driver Recruitment 2024: Syllabus & Shortlisted Candidates

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has released the detailed syllabus and examination scheme for the post of Driver under Advertisement No. IITM/R/1/2024, dated 10th February 2024. The selection process comprises a Computer-Based MCQ Test followed by a Skill Test for the shortlisted candidates.

Examination Scheme (Exam: 01-10-2024)

The recruitment process for the Driver post is structured in two levels:

In Level 1, candidates will take an MCQ Test of 100 questions that assesses both general knowledge and technical understanding of driving. IIT Madras Driver Syllabus Overview

The Level 1 Computer-Based MCQ Test is divided into two sections:

Section A (40 Marks) includes:

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  • Basic Arithmetic and Numerical Ability
  • General English language and grammar
  • Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013

Section B (60 Marks) covers:

  • Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (as amended)
  • Traffic Rules & Driving Skills
  • Basic Maintenance of Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles (LMV/HMV)

Level 2: Skill Test

The Skill Test focuses on:

  • Driving Test (LMV)
  • Safety & First Aid

Candidates shortlisted for this test are also required to undergo a Medical Fitness Test at the Institute Hospital.

Important Notes:

  • The questions will generally be based on the HSC qualification level.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • A minimum of 5X candidates will be shortlisted for the Skill Test, where X is the number of advertised posts.
