The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has released the detailed syllabus and examination scheme for the post of Driver under Advertisement No. IITM/R/1/2024, dated 10th February 2024. The selection process comprises a Computer-Based MCQ Test followed by a Skill Test for the shortlisted candidates.
Examination Scheme (Exam: 01-10-2024)
The recruitment process for the Driver post is structured in two levels:

IIT Madras Driver Syllabus Overview
The Level 1 Computer-Based MCQ Test is divided into two sections:
Section A (40 Marks) includes:
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- Basic Arithmetic and Numerical Ability
- General English language and grammar
- Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013
Section B (60 Marks) covers:
- Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (as amended)
- Traffic Rules & Driving Skills
- Basic Maintenance of Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles (LMV/HMV)
Level 2: Skill Test
The Skill Test focuses on:
- Driving Test (LMV)
- Safety & First Aid
Candidates shortlisted for this test are also required to undergo a Medical Fitness Test at the Institute Hospital.
Important Notes:
- The questions will generally be based on the HSC qualification level.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- A minimum of 5X candidates will be shortlisted for the Skill Test, where X is the number of advertised posts.
