Age Limit and Relaxations for HAL Operator 2024
The maximum age limit for applicants is 28 years as of October 5, 2024 for Unreserved and EWS candidates. Age relaxations apply for certain categories:
- SC/ST Candidates: Relaxation of up to 5 years.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: Relaxation of up to 3 years.
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): Relaxation of up to 10 years.
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Government rules.
Additional age relaxations may apply for candidates with relevant post-qualification experience, up to 7 years.

Additional benefits include Provident Fund contributions, Monthly/Annual Incentives, and Night Shift Allowance (where applicable). An annual increment of 3% in Basic Pay will be provided based on satisfactory performance.
Selection Process For HAL Operator Recruitment2024
The selection for the Operator positions at HAL will be based on a Written Test. The test will assess candidates’ knowledge in three key areas:
- General Awareness: 20 multiple-choice questions
- English & Reasoning: 40 multiple-choice questions
- Trade/Discipline-Specific Knowledge: 100 multiple-choice questions
The Written Test will have a total of 160 questions to be completed within 2.5 hours. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The test will be conducted at designated exam centers, and the date, time, and venue will be communicated to eligible candidates via email or through the HAL website.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
The minimum qualifying marks for the Written Test are as follows:
- UR / OBC / EWS Candidates: 60% and above
- SC / ST / PwBD Candidates: 50% and above
In cases where a large number of candidates meet the eligibility criteria, HAL reserves the right to increase the cut-off percentage to limit the number of candidates called for the Written Test.
Document Verification
Candidates who qualify for the Written Test will be shortlisted for the Document Verification process, which will be conducted in the order of merit. The following documents will be required for verification:
- Age proof (birth certificate, Aadhaar, etc.)
- Educational certificates and mark sheets (as per the post applied for)
- Caste certificate (if applicable)
- Disability certificate (if applicable)
- Relevant experience certificates (if applicable)
Failure to produce the necessary documents at the time of verification will result in disqualification. Candidates who are successfully verified will be eligible for the next stage of the process.
Final Selection
The final selection will be based solely on the performance in the Written Test, subject to the candidate clearing the Document Verification process. A merit list will be prepared for each post based on the scores obtained in the Written Test. The list of selected candidates will be published on the HAL website, and they will be issued provisional offers of engagement.
HAL Operator 2024 Admit Card for Written Test
Candidates who successfully submit their applications will receive their Admit Card for the Written Test via the HAL website. The Admit Card will contain important details such as:
- Candidate’s Name
- Exam Roll Number
- Date and Time of the Written Test
- Exam Center Location
- Instructions for the Test Day
Candidates must download and print the Admit Card from the official HAL website (www.hal-india.co.in) once it is available. It is mandatory to bring the printed Admit Card to the examination center, along with one of the following original photo identification documents:
- Voter ID Card
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- Passport
- Driving License
Without these documents, candidates will not be permitted to enter the examination hall. The HAL Operator Admit Card will be the only document providing access to the exam, and it must be preserved carefully until the recruitment process is completed.

Medical Examination
Before joining, candidates who receive a provisional offer must undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination at HAL’s designated hospital. The medical standards prescribed by HAL must be met, and no relaxation will be provided in this regard. Appointment is subject to the satisfactory outcome of this medical examination.
Tenure and Contract Terms
The selected candidates will be appointed on a tenure basis for a period of four years. This period may be extended based on organizational needs and individual performance. The tenure is not linked to any permanent or regular employment, and the appointment can be terminated by either party with one month’s notice or payment of equivalent compensation.
