The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has published the syllabus and examination scheme for the post of Junior Assistant, part of the recruitment process outlined in Advertisement No. IITM/R/1/2024, dated 10th February 2024. The selection process consists of two stages: a Computer-Based MCQ Test and a Descriptive and Skill Test.
Examination Scheme (Exam: 01-10-2024)
The recruitment process for the Junior Assistant post is structured into two levels:

IIT Madras Junior Assistant Syllabus Overview
The Level 1 Computer-Based MCQ Test will cover the following topics:
- Arithmetic & Numerical Ability
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General English and Comprehension
- Data Interpretation
- Logical Reasoning
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs
- Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013
Level 2: Descriptive and Skill Test
The Descriptive Test will assess candidates on their English writing abilities, focusing on:
- Letter Writing
- Essay Writing
- Paragraph Reading
In the Skill Test, candidates will be tested on their computer proficiency, including:
- MS Office
- Sending emails
- Basic knowledge of database systems
- Typing proficiency
Important Notes:
- Candidates will be shortlisted for the Descriptive and Skill Test at a ratio of 5X the number of advertised posts.
- The questions will generally be set at the minimum qualification level.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in the MCQ test.
